Lake Mary Traffic Improvement: County Road (C.R.) 46A and Rinehart Road Intersection Upgrades

This growth also brings more vehicles to our roads. Thanks to the foresight of our county leaders and officials, our local roadways have been designed to accommodate this growth. To keep our daily commutes hassle-free, our roads are often in various states of improvement.

As your dedicated Lake Mary realtor, it’s my responsibility to keep you updated about changes in Seminole County that might impact you. For this reason, I always stay abreast of the news, especially the topics that may affect our daily lives. In this context, I’d like to share the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT)’s upcoming plans regarding the ongoing I-4 Ultimate Project, which greatly impacts us, particularly those living near the I-4 and Rinehart Rd areas.

FDOT has initiated the C.R. 46A (H.E. Thomas Jr. Parkway) and Rinehart Road intersection improvement projects to boost traffic efficiency and alleviate congestion at the I-4 and C.R. 46A interchange, which is part of their commitment to improving the places we live in Seminole County.

Planned Improvements

  • Transforming the existing eastbound through/right-turn lane on C.R. 46A to a through-only lane and introducing two right-turn-only lanes to southbound Rinehart Road.
  • Adding a second southbound right-turn lane on Rinehart Road to westbound C.R. 46A.
  • Creating a third lane to southbound Rinehart Road between C.R. 46A and Timacuan Boulevard.
  • Extending the northbound left-turn lanes on Rinehart Road to westbound C.R. 46A.
  • Extending a westbound left-turn lane on C.R. 46A to southbound Rinehart Road.

These improvements are scheduled to start in the fall of 2023.
