Orlando Competes for the Star Wars Convention

Star Wars fans may be gathering in Orlando for Celebration V which will be a four-day event at the Orange County Convention Center. Orlando is competing with Minneapolis, Chicago, Indianapolis, and Baltimore. A decision as to where the convention will take place could be made within 6 months. The event was held in Los Angeles last year and attracted about 30,000 Star Wars buffs. A convention of that size would have an economic impact of approximately $36 million and would be one of the largest conventions in the Orlando area.
