A brief history of Lake Mary Florida
Lake Mary incorporated in 1973. The city is named after Mary Sundell. She and her husband, Rev. Sundell, settle near the lake in the late 1800's. The city mainly produced agricultural products until in 1880 when it became a stop on the railroad that ran between Sanford and Orlando. Over the years the community blossomed into the upscale, prominent community it is today.
