The second phase of the Sterling University Central student housing complex off Alafaya Trail expects to break ground in April 2010.  This 760-bed student housing project under construction near the University of Central Florida's main campus will double in size soon.  The second phase will include a four-story building with a parking garage and clubhouse with an estimated  construction cost of $60 million - $70 million.

The first phase of the project is more than 80percent pre-leased and is to open in August 2010.  There is a need for student housing, as the school's enrollment grew from 50,275 in 2008 to 53,500 in 2009.  The rent at the complex ranges from $675 per bed for a four-bedroom unit to $925 for a one-bedroom unit.
