With limited hotel opportunities in Winter Park near Rollins College, the school is moving ahead with plans to build an inn on school-owned property one block from campus.  The inn, which is expected to open within approximately two years would cost about $30 million to $35 million and create an estimated 35-50 hotel jobs and up to 1,500 construction jobs.

The project will include up to 150 rooms and 10,000 sq. ft of banquet and meeting space.  The inn is to be built on 3.4 acres just two blocks east of the Park Avenue downtown shopping district on New England Avenue.  Room rates likely would range from $100-$150 per night and generating up to 15,000 room nights per year.  The proposed Rollins inn also would include much needed meeting space, allowing the college to host alumni gatherings and faculty workshops.  It could also be used for the community to host wedding receptions or conventions.

The project cost and construction start date have not been determined yet.
