Lake Nona is one of Central Florida's hottest-growing developments and a local developer plans to build a new grocery-anchored shopping center on the southeast side of the 7,000 acre Lake Nona community southeast Orlando.  If approved, the city council would sign off on the design plans in August or September, and the developer could begin pulling permits to start construction at that time.  Developer Lake Nona Land Co. LLC submitted a master plan draft to the city of Orlando in late April.

Plans for the parcel include a 70,417 square foot neighborhood shopping center along with large sidewalk space that can be used for public areas or sidewalk cafe seating and connections to future residential neighborhoods through walking trails and bike lanes.

Lake Nona is home of  "medical city" which includes the Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute, the University of Central Florida College of Medicine, Nemours' Children's hospital, the Orlando VA medical Center and other health related projects.  The community plans for 9,000 homes and nearly 4.9 million square feet of commercial space.
