The Tourist Development Tax collected from Orange County visitors has contributed significantly to the funding of the Amway Arena, Florida Citrus Bowl and the Orange County Convention Center over the past 25 years.  As we enter the  year 2010, a new generation of community venue projects is well underway for Orlando.

The city is preparing for the visitors of tomorrow with a seven-level events center, The Orlando Events Center, which is currently under construction along Intersate 4 in downtown Orlando.  This 851,000 square foot space will be home of the 2009 NBA Eastern Conference champions, the Orlando Magic basketball team.  The venue will include 19,700 seats and 60 private suites and is scheduled to open in October 2010.

Also in the works is the new 2,800-seat Dr. P. Phillips Orlando Performing Arts Center which is projected to start construction in early 2010.
