Over the past few months, rumors of a county-mandated school uniform have spread throughout schools in the area, brought on by Seminole County's decision to alter its public school dress code.  The idea of uniforms has been abandoned.   Among the banned items that were part of the much-hyped, drastic change are baggy pants, revealing tops, spandex and gang wear.  These such items have always been against dress code.

The 2009-2010 Student Conduct and Discipline Code, the most recent dress code before Seminole County's change, reveals that last year students were to "wear pants and shorts fastened and worn at the waist" with shorts being "adequate in length" and "appropriate" for school.  Forbidden was "sexually aggressive" or "distracting" clothing and "apparel or symbols which are identified with gang involvement"
