The Inaugural Apopka Art and Jazz Festival sponsored by the Apopka and Wekiva school communities will be be held on Saturday, February 20th from 1 PM until 6 PM at the new Apopka Amphitheater at the Northwest Recreation Complex.  The event will showcase art, drama and music students and raise much needed funds for Apopka-area school fine arts programs.

Bands along with art and drama programs from eighteen North Learning Community schools will perform jazz and display artwork throughout the day.  Special musical and artistic guests include:  the UCF Jazz Ensemble under the baton of Jeff Rupert, director of Jazz Studies; trumpet solos by Apopka Middle School principal Dr. Chris Cammacho and Piedmont Lakes Middle School principal Mr. David Magee; and visual displays by school art teachers.  Mistresses of Ceremony for the afternoon will be Area Superintendent Dr. Cathy Pope and School Board Member Christine Moore.   Concessions and interactive art activities will be available throughout the day.

Tickets are $5.00 for adults and $2.50 for students.  Tickets are available from art, drama and music departments at each of the participating schools.  (Elementaries - Apopka, Clarcona, Clay Springs, Dream Lake, Lakeville, Lockhart, Lovell, Riverside, Rock Springs, Wheatley, Wolf Lake, and Zellwood; Middle Schools - Apopka, Lockhart, Piedmont Lakes and Wolf Lake; High Schools - Apopka and Wekiva.

The event's ticket sponsor is CenturyLINK  and additional sponsorships are being provided by the Vose Law Firm, the Apopka Chief and the City of Apopka.
