The planned Dr. P. Phillips orlando Performing Arts Center is part of  a $1.1 billion three-venue downtown community plan by the city of Orlando and Orange County.  The primary users of the venue will include the Orlando Ballet Orlando Philharmonic  Orchestra, the Festival of Orchestras and the Florida Theatrical Association, which works with Broadway Across America to bring touring Broadway shows to the city.

The other two projects are a new $480 million events center and $175 million in renovations for the Florida Citrus Bowl.  The new events center, called the Amway Center, will be home for the Orlando Magic.  It's under way and will be completed this year in time for the start of the 2010-2011 NBA season.

The Citrus Bowl will receive $10million in renovations this year, the first phase of planned enhancements.  initial work will include two new buildings with restrooms, a box office and concessions, as well as upgrading the facility's turf and technology.
