The RiverWalk, which runs along the St. Johns River in Sanford is now open for the second phase.  The RiverWalk is a pedestrian and bicycle project that is recognized as Florida's scenic route.

This area is the longest shoreline fishing area in Florida.  The phase II extends the current River Walk 3,000 feet which would equal a distance of 1.76 miles.

The 6.4 Million funding for the project was provided by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) as well as the Seminole County Second Generation Sales Tax.  There are plans for a Phase III to extend the RiverWalk to its final destination Interstate 4.

The city of Sanford is planning and designing Phase III which will begin in 2017.
