Florida banker's and credit unions announced on Monday they would suspend foreclosing on homeowners for the next 45 days. The plan to halt foreclosures would not help the 450,000 homeowners who are in the process of being foreclosed upon. Here in Florida we have the third-highest foreclosure rate in the entire nation. Crist, who said last week that he would consider ordering an executive order halting foreclosures, said this temporary moratorium would only cover homeowners with a homestead property who need help not folks with second homes or investment property in Florida. This effort is to help people in need, Crist said. This is not for someone who went and bought a block of condos in South Florida on the spec market. For all of you homeowner's in Lake Mary that are in this unfortunate position it surely is a very welcomed gesture if for the holidays, thanks to Govenor Crist.
