A $161 million dollar project in southwest Orange County near Disney World may start to be built later this year. Sun Terra Communities LLC and it s New York-based equity partner Jen Partners LLC are seeking county approval to begin work on the first phase of a 700-lot mixed use village in the 38,000 acre, master-planned community of Horizon West Village. The community is expected to have several thousand homes along with neighborhood commercial centers and a central town center at buildout.
The 446 acre parcel is located on the west side of Reams Road and Winter Garden Vineland Road in Orange County. The project plans 268 single family and townhome lots in Phase 1; an additional 432 homes in future phases, a 300 unit multifamily community; and 120,000 square feet of commercial space.
The Orlando area still has a lot of hew home inventory. Although there has been more construction with 1,363 new home construction starts in first quarter 2010, up 68.5 percent from 809 starts in the same period last year.
